With his commanding stage presence, unrivaled songwriting skill and ear for creating pure pop masterpieces, Dominique Fricot is finally starting to hit his stride. JP Hoe from Winnipeg recently made waves playing the One Movement Showcase in Perth. At times Sufjan and Andrew Bird-esque, at others reminiscent of David Gray and John Mayer, JP Hoe’s talent is quite outstanding.

Renny Wilson, musician formerly known as Sugarglider spent almost ten years working on debut album Sugarglider, a collection of glassy sounds and deeply insular atmospheres. Somewhere between the wildly funky bedroom disco of Arthur Russell and the megalomaniacal crash of contemporaries like Ariel Pink and Mac DeMarco, Wilson finds a unique place on the map in this album of dance-oriented shut-in brilliance.

Heavy on the electronics, but not the electronica, Hannah Georgas harks back to a time when hookiness was the order (or New Order) of the day, and human emotions (or Human Leagues) ruled, even when the underlying textures tended toward the synthetic. Her principle cohort in this redefining effort was producer Graham Walsh, of the celebrated Canadian band Holy Fuck, who shared her desire to forge a sound that makes heavy use of pre-EDM keyboards. The Belle Game's debut album, Ritual Tradition Habit, begins with bashful guitars, a soft wave of cymbals, and a pair of ambiguous phrases.

Jon and Roy are unique in regards to — despite their considerable success as an independent act — the music-making process - above all else - is what continues to drive them. Vince Vaccaro's a true gypsy soul, his music and love of travelling has taken him all over the world. High Talent, Depth of Perception, Soulful and Heartfelt. These are just some of the elements that make up the cutting-edge Canadian musical force of FIELDS OF GREEN.

It's the soothing sound of Kim Churchill who plays a guitar with the busiest of fingers and the rhythm of a master, and who sings lyrics too enigmatic to believe they came from someone so young.
